Little Foxes Nursery is registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register. We may care for no more than 54 children aged between 0-8 years.  We must not provide overnight care. The above statement is taken from the registration document and is the overriding policy in respect of admissions.

We at Little Foxes are committed to providing a fair, open and inclusive admission system, and we will endeavour to offer all children the place they require.

Admissions

When a parent/carer contacts the nursery enquiring about a place for their child, they will be shown around the nursery by the manager/ senior staff who will explain the daily running of the nursery. The parent/carer will the given all relevant information they require and informed of whether there is currently a suitable place available for their child. If a suitable place is available a date will be arranged for settling in visits so that the transition from home to nursery will be easier for the child. A deposit of three weeks fees will be taken to secure the nursery place.

Matters that may be taken into account when offering a childcare place:

  • Availability of spaces, taking into account the staff/child ratios, the age of the children and the registration requirements.
  • Those children who are siblings of those already with us.
  • The length of time on waiting list.
  • The nursery is able to meet all the child’s requirements

Once the place for the child is confirmed the parent will be offered six 1 hour introductory sessions, which are spread out over the two weeks prior to the child starting at Little Foxes. The first three;- the parent will be urged to stay with the child. This will give the parent time to chat to staff about their child and get an idea of what the child will be experiencing whilst at Little Foxes. At this time the manager or the deputy should go through admission forms with the parent to ensure the parent understands the forms and if there are any questions this is the opportunity to answer. Also so staff know all they need to about the child. The second three sessions the parent will be urged to leave the child to build confidence & make starting easier. Through these sessions the process of leaving parent/ carer should be a smoother transition and your child will be allocated their key person.

Once your child starts we ask parents to provide the following for their child whilst at nursery:

  • Spare clothes
  • Nappy Cream
  • Water cup
  • Suncream
  • All in one wet suit
  • Any bottles for younger babies

The above will be labelled to save any confusion. This is only a recommendation that parents/ carers introduce their child in this way, we understand not all parents are able to this.
